Maxine Babalis Excellence in Education Grant
Granite Credit Union is launching a $1,000 grant for educators as a legacy to Maxine Babalis. Maxine served on Granite’s Board of Directors for 43 years. This grant is a tribute to her service and legacy. We encourage parents, teachers, PTAs, school administrators, and Granite Credit Union members to complete the application for a teacher who has gone above and beyond in leadership and advocacy for children.
About Maxine:
Maxine has spent 43 years volunteering at Granite Credit Union—nearly half of Granite’s 87 years of existence. As a member of the Board of Directors, Maxine has had a major influence on shaping Granite Credit Union and its growth and success.
A graduate of the University of Utah with a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s in English language and literature, Maxine spent 32 years teaching in the Granite School District. She primarily taught at the elementary school level and has always been a champion and advocate for children and education.
Maxine has been a very involved member of Granite’s Board of Directors, serving in every role and capacity during her tenure. She regularly planned and organized our Annual Meetings and other events, and it’s no surprise that she contributed her expertise to the scholarship selection process.
We are indebted to Maxine for her service to Granite Credit Union and our community over the past decades.
