Credit Union Trailblazer Lynn Kuehne Announces Retirement After Career Spanning 7 Decades
Millcreek, Utah – September 1, 2021 – Lynn R. Kuehne, President and CEO of Granite Credit Union in Millcreek, UT has announced plans to retire effective October 1, 2021. Granite’s Board of Directors has selected Mark L. Young as Kuehne’s successor.
Mr. Kuehne began his credit union journey as a volunteer member of the Supervisory Committee of Utah CV (now Utah First) Credit Union in 1968. He was named President/CEO of Utah CV in 1975 and served the German community credit union for 19 years.
In 1992, Kuehne joined the Utah Credit Union Association and was named Executive Vice President in 1997 and continued in that role until 2009. He was a leading voice in advocating for credit unions on both the local and national levels. During this time, he was also a founding member of the Credit Union Service Centers of Utah and served as the President of that organization from 1993 until 2009.
Mr. Kuehne replaced Curt Doman as the President/CEO of Granite Credit Union in July of 2009 and will have served over 12 years in this position by his announced retirement date. During Kuehne’s tenure, Granite Credit Union has doubled in size growing assets from $336 million to more than $680 million.
In 2018, Kuehne was inducted into the Credit Union House Hall of Leaders in Washington DC. The Credit Union House provides recognition at the Capitol Hill facility for distinguished individuals whose leadership serves as a model for credit union leaders throughout the country.
Mr. Kuehne has been an influential voice promoting the credit union movement throughout his career. From designing early computer software to serving as a board member for the Utah League of Credit Unions and Utah Corporate Central Credit Union, to being a 2000 candidate for State Senate District 23, Kuehne’s impact and influence is widely respected in the credit union industry and members of any Utah Credit Union have benefitted from his years of service.
